CLA Gathering

I really ought to sleep. There’s my first yoga lesson later. I can’t afford to be tired. It will affect my session. I keep telling myself that as I try to complete the Sudoku on my G900. It has become a habit since I started rotting this holiday.

The images of today’s gathering kept popping into my mind at will. I might as well write about it right? The 11 of us belonged to a unique class in MJC. We are the ‘brave’ ones as some might think, to take up the challenge of learning Chinese in depth. Chinese is the subject that many feared, or even hated in an elite school of ours.

That was five years ago. Today, after National Service for the guys, and graduation for some girls, the group of us met up again, to bond, to reminisce, to catch-up and simply, to spend time together. The five years had seen us through highs and lows physically, emotionally, academically and mentally.

We still ‘lamed’ around and cracked cold jokes; we still poke fun of each other, but the innocence that we once had were clearly gone. Maturity and wisdom are all over our faces. Replacing the baby fats (or whatever was left then), are more defined features, muscles, and even the excess substance prior to developing those.

Changes. The one who changed the most would be Charles I think. Aside from his toned built and improved dress-sense, his trademark ‘xiaowei math test 拿几分?’ competitiveness and bookishness is replaced by thoughtfulness and good-nature. Had I not known him earlier, I might even say that he is charming.

I think Sharon changed quite a bit as well. She used to give me the impression of being self-centred, too straight-forward for her own good (no offense really); but now, she is more mature, considerate, friendly, cheerful, and the list goes on. And she’s definitely prettier.

Wenqi – She has always been well-knowledged about news on the streets, always friendly and always ready to share. From my perspective, she changed most since last Christmas. Perhaps overseas volunteering was a meaningful and inspiring experience for her. Personality-wise, she seemed more focused and clear-headed.

Wan Ling - Although always quietly listening to others, her intelligence and observance can never be undermined. If given the opportunity, she will definitely shine. Private diploma and degree education might not be the best choice for her, but it seemed to me that she is as always, determined to do her best, and will ensure that she is the best. Different from how she was five years ago, she seemed to be coping with stress a lot better now, seeing a right avenue in the Korean stars to relief her stress. The strong career woman in her is silently, but surely emerging.

Rebec - On the surface, she really didn't change much. But over these years, she has developed keen sense of reasoning and an in-depth way of looking at issues which might gain her an upperhand should she give herself the opportunity to show it. From what I can see, she has also developed great knowledge about herself, so great that she knows what works for her best without sacrificing her time for tvb dramas and movies. Self-knowledge is indeed one of the most powerful knowledge that one could obtain, no?

Xiaowei - Her change is obvious. Aside from her acute change in her religious beliefs, her self-confidence among other qualities are slowly but steadily developing. Her dreams of opening a pet shop, has the potential to succeed under her hands, I can tell.

Yong Ann - He might be hiding under his old self, but it is clear that this guy here has changed a lot since ns.

Haur Shen - Seemed to be as per normal. Man of few words as usual. Always want to talk to him more, cos I know so little about him. (Does he have a gf?!)But everytime I try, there just seemed to be nothing to talk to him about. not even laming -_-|| Well, hope he's having a good life.
