Just Being Philosophical
- Anger will never disappear so long as thoughts of resentment are cherished in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten.
- Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
- Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.
- Pay no attention to the faults of others,
things done or left undone by others.
Consider only what by oneself is done or left undone. - What we think, we become.
- Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned.
With the hormones messing up, I looked for quotes to calm myself down before starting on my first assignment for the last semester in nus. Also read up about meditation. The calming of body, mind and soul might be the remedy for my paranoia mind and elephantine appetite these days. Samatha and Yoga might be a good combination for me.
Surya Namaskar: Sun Salutation. Learnt this yoga movement two weeks back and re-capped last week. we sweated quite a bit in the air-conditioned studio. I felt my entire body stretched and extended after one cycle. If done properly, all parts of your body will be stretched. No wonder the instructor said, "If you remember nothing else throughout this course, remember the Sun Salutation."Hope you can make it for lesson next week, tricia. If you want to know what you have missed past two weeks, here's a brief description of the movement :)
